 Store InfoSportwheels is a family owned business serving and supporting the community of Sackville for over 50 years. Started by the Mayhew family in 1947, in Prince Edward Island, the “Mayhew Cycle shop” grew to Sackville in the late 1960’s as the area was expanding with residential development and businesses. We started in a small building with Payzants Building Supplies (still at their same location today)...and within a few years, we needed to move to a larger spot – which was a residential house, purchased by the Mayhew family to transform into Sportwheels! Once completed, the store carried: bikes, hockey skates, hockey sticks, Roller Skates & performed bike repairs, and skate sharpening. We shared our Space with Monroe’s TV repair, until 1986 – when once again – we needed growth room & bulit our new building! Our new building had: Sportwheels, Monroes TV repair, and Sackville Small Engine (owned by another Mayhew family member). As in the past – we again needed more space for our growing business, and in 1990 we expanded the building to twice the size, and also took over the other 2 business spots. We now occupy the entire building! Still owned by the Mayhew family, now into the 4th generation. To give our customers the best possible selection and pricing, Sportwheels has joined forces with the SPORTS EXCELLENCE banner of stores. We are now part of a national group of Sports Stores looking to offer our customers even better products and pricing. With the power of our group buying, we give the customer the classic Sportwheels service and attention, but now with the most amazing products at the lowest prices in the market! We have EXCLUSIVE products to only our Store, to make the shopping experience even more exciting at Sportwheels Sports Excellence!! |
