Barren Fly & Tackle was opened in April of 1985 by Barry Waters.  He started the store by tying flies in his living room.  Over the next ten years he built up the business.

Bill Driver took over the store in the 1990's and became a fixture in the Kaslo community.  Seven days a week 8:00am to 9:00pm you could come to the store and find Bill tying flies with a smile on his face.

Gord Moore & Karissa Stroshein are the new owners as of Nov. 1, 2006.   Barren Fly & Tackle has now become Barren's Sport Shop carrying all the regular supplies for fishing and a whole lot more.  At this time Barren's carries firearms, archery and hunting supplies, fishing, paintball, and skateboarding gear, as well as boots, shoes and clothing.  If you can't find what you're looking for in the store, it can be order in for you.
